Sun-ye, a member of popular K-pop group Wonder Girls, is getting married on Jan. 26, her agency revealed Tuesday.
"Wonder Girls' leader Sun-ye is getting married on Jan. 26 of next year," said JYP Entertainment in a press release.
"Sun-ye recently notified her intentions to the company and the other members of the group. We understand that her decision was made after careful consideration and have decided to respect her wishes."
The 23-year-old singer, whose full name is Min Sun-ye, debuted in 2007 and led the team for the past six years.
According to online media sources, Sun-ye is said to be dating a Korean-American missionary stationed in Haiti.
They met when the singer went to Haiti on a week-long mission trip last May.
Soon after, photos of the pair started appearing online and Sun-ye confirmed that they were a couple in November 2011.
Rumours of Sun-ye getting married have also been swirling since September this year, when a Korean magazine reported that they were preparing to hold a wedding in October.
Sun-ye quickly put the rumour to rest in a Twitter message, but added that she will share the good news "when the timing is right".
Korean entertainment news site Nate.com reported that Sun-ye will be taking a break after her wedding, while the rest of the Wonder Girls "will focus on individual activities like acting, and releasing solo albums".
