China's Weibo queen ties the knot

The Queen Of Weibo got married last Saturday and, naturally she informed her 26 million followers about it.

Chinese actress Yao Chen, China's most popular microblogger, wed cinematographer Cao Yu in a church in Queenstown, New Zealand.

An announcement of the wedding, reportedly attended by only about 20 family members and friends, appeared on her Weibo on Sina.com on Saturday evening. The wedding pictures were shown in a separate link.

Just before the ceremony, she also blogged, quoting from inspirational writer Alfred D. Souza to tell fans to "treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special".

Films featuring Yao, 33, include Sophie's Revenge (2009) and If You Are The One 2 (2010).

Before Saturday, Yao has had fans guessing about the wedding by posting pictures of her friends and family at scenic sites in New Zealand.

Reports said her wedding might have been sponsored.

Yao, whose first marriage ended last year, is China's brand ambassador for Tourism New Zealand.

She was said to be China's No. 1 microblogger last year when her blog became the first to have more than 11 million fans.
