Hong Kong - The stories started about model Gaile Lai before her divorce from actor Leon Lai was announced.
She was said to have netted a yacht, a luxury car and a property - his peace offerings to save their marriage. Later, her divorce settlement was said to be about HK$200 million (S$31.58 million), a third of his reported wealth.
But in a radio interview last Saturday, she rejected the reports portraying her as a grabby woman, said Ming Pao Daily News.
The model, who started dating the superstar around 2005 and married him in the United States on March 9, 2008, said gifting was a two-way street in their seven years together.
"He gave me a sports car, but I drive poorly, it wasn't suitable and I sold it," she told Commercial Radio. "I also gave him a bottle of whisky dated his birth year, worth more than six figures."
Her divorce settlement is "small", she said. It is not even HK$10 million, let alone HK$200 million, she added.
She also denied a tabloid story that she had a miscarriage and that the marriage suffered afterwards. "I have never been pregnant nor had a miscarriage."
Although she was married to a superstar, she said she saw themselves as an ordinary couple. "I think of myself as a hippie and Leon Lai is a politician, a leader who takes care of people."
She said they split up not because of a third party but because "sometimes a relationship just doesn't work out".
"If I could show everyone the divorce agreement, they would find it so simple. Not everyone breaks up because of a scandal or someone doing something wrong."
