HONG KONG - Model Gaile Lai has rejected a new string of stories that her marriage to actor Leon Lai is on the rocks.

Arriving at a fashion party on Thursday in her husband's car and with his assistant, she said: "I have just returned to Hong Kong but I have seen the news. It's not like this. It's not true."

Recent rumours had it that Gaile, 32, and Leon, 45, were breaking up because of their age gap. She was said to be determined to divorce him, and to have started a restaurant with a former boyfriend after she had a miscarriage last year.

He was said to have bought her a home and a boat to save the marriage.

On Thursday, she said she had a joint venture with her former boyfriend Ray Ng, but that she had not seen him in a long time and there were other shareholders, reported Ming Pao Daily News.

"The restaurant has been in operation since 2004, and Leon Lai knows," she added.

As for the talk of her husband's presents, she said she had not seen the magazine that said so.

"I don't know Chinese," added the model, who was born in Macau and grew up in San Francisco. "I pay attention to only whether I'm fat in the photos. Were there gifts? I won't answer. Ask him."

The couple, who married in 2008, have no plans for a baby yet, she said.
