Alex To used to not believe in marriage—until he met short-film director Ice Lee.

Now the smitten Hong Kong entertainer will hear wedding bells chime on Sunday.

"I love her small eyes," said the 50-year-old of his 26-year-old bride. Alex and Ice began dating two years ago after collaborating on a Michael Jackson project, and she has been at his side through his ups-and-downs in the last 24 months.

With Ice being half his age, Alex is literally old enough to be her dad, revealing that his mother-in-law is only a year younger than him and that Ice's father, 54, is the same age as his older brother Orlando To.

Alex said he was nervous when meeting the in-laws for the first time, which included Ice's uncle who is able to "read faces". Alex said, "I was so nervous that I sweated until my underwear was wet," adding that it took him six months to convince them he was sincere about being a husband.

He also spoke about the proposal, which happened at a restaurant: "I prepared a long speech, but before I could open my mouth, I burst into tears," he said.

Alex told reporters that he and his wife had planned a European honeymoon and that their wedding plans cost about HK$2mil (S$318,120). After the retro themed banquet in Hong Kong, another celebration will be held on Wednesday 21st November in Taiwan.

Alex's best men include A-list stars Kenny Bee, Tony Leung Chiu-wai, David Lui Fong and Lam Lei, while the guest list covers Jonathan Lee, Wakin Chau and Tarcy Su.
