DC Shoes collaborates with S'pore designer on T-shirt collection

SINGAPORE – DC Shoes has launched a limited edition collection of tees in collaboration with internationally-renown local designer Mark Ong, aka SBTG.

Launched on Nov 16, the collection will be available across South-east asian countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines.

Over the past decade, SBTG’s works have been heavily influenced by camouflage and militarianism, so for this season, SBTG presents his most celebrated inspiration with the Delta Charlie collection. The Delta Charlie collection is a twist on skateboarding and militarianism.

Delta Charlie is the code name for 'D and 'C' in military lingo, spelt with NATO phonetic alphabet, which is frequently used by the military to transmit data accurately.

“One of the designs – the image of a dead general – is a concept which SBTG revived from his archives, which is symbolic of an adult exploring hisattic and old belongings and discovering his old skateboard, leading him toreminisce the good ol’ days of skateboarding as a youngster,” explained Ong.

Ong started his career as a hobby sneaker painter, working out of his parents' kitchen.

He created the identity, Sabotage, in 2003, fuelled by his need to create sneakers with a new look.

Ong's first claim to fame came after he won a sneaker customizing competition on the Nike Talk Forum. His winning submission gained massive attention from the sneaker industry, and Sabotage instantly became a name synonymous with the art of sneaker customization.

Sabotage sneaker customs have attracted the likes of Kobe Bryant, Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn of Linkin Park, James Lavelle, and Q-tip just to name a few.

General Manager of DC Southeast Asia Daniel Tay added, “Our previous collaborations with SBTG have seen overwhelming response from our fans throughout the world, and we’re stoked to be launching yet another collection with him. We’re looking forward to the success of the Delta Charlie collection.”

DC South Asia Product Line Manager Audrey Ong added, “We are especially proud to be showing the world that a Singaporean designer can be capable ofsuch great designs. This adds on to our continuous supply of exclusive products of a superior quality.”

For a limited time only, receive a free Delta Charlie dog tag (worth $29) when you purchase a Delta Charlie tee – while stocks last.
