Gaile Lai on Leon Lai's fashion sense

She has been a frequent target of the Hong Kong paparazzi for her relationship with - and recently, marriage to - Hong Kong Heavenly King Leon Lai, but model Gaile Lai said that her relationship with the paparazzi has morphed into “a weird friendship”.

“It’s like a friend you cannot get rid of, who’s always around you [laughs]. I see them so much, especially when I work in Hong Kong, (they are always there) three, four times a week.

“I don’t hate them or anything. I don’t feel sad about the things they say or whatever - well, maybe a little bit in the beginning, but once you understand the Hong Kong media, (I know that) it’s not just me. That’s just how they are to everyone. So I shouldn’t take it so personally.”

Just how does she handle the Hong Kong media, that is infamous for being difficult to handle and persistent?

“I treat them as friends. Even in friendships, if there’re certain things you don’t want to say, you just tell them, ‘Look, I don’t want to talk about that’. I think that’s very important. I treat them as how I would treat my friends. I hope it’s mutual respect, at least on my side, I do have respect for them,” she said.

The pretty lass was in town recently to promote Puma's "Create Your own Style" campaign along with Taiwanese heartthrob Eddie Peng.

And in case you are wondering, she said she does not really provide fashion tips to her famous other half.

“He usually just wears a T-shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. He wants to be comfortable and I think that’s how men are usually like. They want to be comfortable and be able to move freely.

“As for myself, my style is a little bit masculine. Minus the time when I am working for fashion brands and catwalks, when I usually dress, it’s a little bit boyish. For a lot of my outfits, the influences are actually from guys,” she told The Daily Chilli.
