Chic picks that should inhabit your wardrobe

Whatever the styles that come with the seasons, we can never do without our bare essentials - basic wardrobe items that work with any accessory or will suit whichever style you can dream of.

So, pick out pieces that won't look out of place once the season passes. We like these a lot!

Budget-friendly chic from Uniqlo with a New Dress Everyday

Velvet first became known for its ultra-soft and feminine T-shirts that speak of luxe. Dresses from the Uniqlo collection are subtly sexy but still very accessible. Dress formally with a smartly tailored jacket, or glam it up with accessories such as a chunky choker to stand out from the crowd.

And for the price, it's a real steal.

Dresses priced at $29.90 and available at selected Uniqlo stores.

NUDE: Masahiko Maruyama

Guys, don't stick to boring shirts and jackets. Head down to Actually Actually for a sampling of Japanese designer Masahiko Maruyama aesthetics in his Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection. Instead, offerings such as knitwear and cardigans add variety.

In this collection, while his look is punk-inspired, there are some very wearable pieces in the knitwear and cardigans. Urban greys and blacks make this a no-brainer to throw on when the occasion does not call for a more formal jacket.

Prices from $500 and available at 16 Purvis Street #02-01.
