Lucky shopper wins car
by Tay Suan Chiang

AFTER taking part in many lucky draws, business development assistant manager Edwin Goh finally got lucky.

The 35-year-old said he 'hit the jackpot' when he was presented with a Peugeot 308 worth $73,000, the grand prize in the Fashion Season @ Orchard (FSO) Shop and Dine 2010 contest. The prize presentation was held at Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) News Centre last night.

The inaugural FSO, which ran from April 2 to May 9, featured a gamut of fashion events, workshops, parties and shopping deals. It was organised by the Orchard Road Business Association (Orba), together with SPH and MasterCard, to boost business in the retail belt.

Mrs Sng Ngoi May, chairman of Orba, said: 'We want to continue and make it an iconic event in Orchard Road.'

Shoppers who spent at least $50 during the season at 10 malls in Orchard Road qualified for the lucky draw.

Mr Goh spent about $500 on bathroom accessories at a hardware store in Plaza Singapura to qualify. Already the owner of a Toyota Vios, he says he has yet to decide what to do with his prize.

Last night, the FSO Best Fashion Window Display award was also presented to Tangs Orchard for its spring/summer design featuring colourful shoes and handbags that rotated. Ms Cindy Tong, Tangs' assistant vice-president for visual merchandising and store planning, said 'a window display that was not stationary but showed movement made it a winner'.

Thirteen stores, including Banana Republic, Warehouse and Raoul, had taken part in the contest, and shoppers voted for their favourite.
