Window displays at Tangs and Raoul
by Rohaizatul Azhar

TANGS ORCHARD

This display boasts a botanical theme inspired by the latest spring/summer 2010 colours.

Each vendor in the department store put in a pitch for their latest spring/summer products and the final line-up of products was decided by the visual merchandisers.

Pictures of the store’s spring/summer products were turned into flowers and garden insects. Contractors installed many motorised mechanisms for this display, including the
kaleidoscopes.

As part of Tangs’ green initiative, the team, led by visual merchandiser Cindy Tong, used recycled materials and props from previous seasons’ displays.
It took two days to complete all three windows, each with its own colour theme.

RAOUL

The design started in November 2009, with regional visual merchandiser Keith Sazali drawing mock-ups for the display.

The design was inspired by Raoul’s current ad campaign blitz, which features models in a home setting surrounded by stacks of books and magazines, as well as walls filled with newspaper and magazine clippings.

Contractors constructed the main fixtures such as the bookshelves and partitions. Sazali and his team took four hours to style the store’s two windows, including
positioning and dressing the mannequins.

Orange and white lights were used as accents to bring out the collection’s muted shades of beige and grey, with the occasional playful piece in bright prints.
