I'm no romantic hubby: Andy Lau

Taipei - Andy Lau said he is an unromantic husband, speaking in a rare interview about his life with Carol Choo whom he secretly married in 2008.

The actor, whose Las Vegas wedding was exposed last August, said he did not kneel to propose in Vegas and does not remember special dates.

'If a birthday approaches, the paparazzi outside my house will remind me what date it is,' he told Apple Daily in Taiwan, where he promoted his new film, Future X-Cops, also starring Barbie Hsu.

But he admitted cooking breakfast for Choo, his secret partner for 24 years before they went public by holding hands while leaving Kuala Lumpur airport last August. He said he has a temper and they do quarrel, before adding: 'The world over, it is the husband who first says sorry.'

The homebody said he and low-profile Choo mainly dated at home.

'I have filmed in Hengdian (film studio in China) for five months without stepping out,' he said. 'There are many things I can't do and I have to be careful about many things. My life has changed. I don't want my family to be like me.'

Denying that he was pressured to go public with Choo last year, he said that came about 'naturally'.

'What I thought was how best for her to return to Hong Kong,' he said. He and Choo were then in Malaysia to attend her dad's funeral and he was photographed paying his respects at the grave.

He would not say what attracted him to Choo but said: 'I have had a good life... Those I loved have never complained.'

He said he does not mind if others do not consider him a good husband: 'I need face only one person. It's enough that that person feels I'm the best in the world.'
