I'm all grown up now
by Jeanmarie Tan

It's no secret that Disney princess Miley Cyrus wants to segue into serious acting.

So what better way to start redefining oneself than with one's wardrobe?

This past month, the 17-year-old actress-singer from Nashville, Tennessee, embarked on a promotional world tour for Hannah Montana: The Movie and peddled a more mature version of herself on the red carpet.

Cyrus took a few fashion risks, and they mostly paid off. But despite her love of couture, the richest kid in the world admits she's a cheap shopper who won't splurge on exorbitant pieces and prefers looking for bargains.

Now that's what we call a fashion icon for the younger generation.

1 This is power dressing at its loudest. What statement is she making here in London? Hey world, look at me, I'm all grown up.

Cyrus certainly looks like she has come of age in this edgy textured metallic silver Herve Leger mini-dress and matching gunmetal grey Sergio Rossi pumps.

This is possibly the starlet's best look to date: Current, sexy, sophisticated, while seeming effortlessly so.

Her legs go on forever, and the structured shoulders are very on trend.

2 At the Munich premiere, she embodied hippy chic with her simple, sheer, white and beaded Temperley London frock, paired with silver Dsquared sandals and Ippolita jewels.

The dress was sweet - not too tight, not too short, not too revealing and age appropriate.

3 Cyrus reverted to her girly self in Madrid, where she wore a cute, flouncy pale pink Luisa Beccaria tiered skirt with a white Forever21 tank top and a gorgeous black sterling bib necklace from Lulu Frost.

The only thing that spoils the look is her choice of shoes - the same Sergio Rossi pair from London - which appears too harsh against the pastel ensemble.

4 This isn't my favourite look for Cyrus in Los Angeles, because she's no rock star. The cropped leather jacket from BCBG adds a bit of youth to her sassy fringed teal Alberta Ferretti dress featuring a rope belt, which really makes her blue eyes pop.

But those knee-high Aldo boots cover up one of her best assets - her long gams.
