Miley Cyrus: Untameable

Los Angeles - Teen star Miley Cyrus has cast aside any resemblance to her Disney alter ego Hannah Montana in a racy music video for her new single Can't Be Tamed, which features the 17-year-old pole-dancing in a black bodice.

She takes a leaf out of the style books of Lady Gaga and Britney Spears in the video, released on Tuesday.

Wearing black bird wings, thigh-high boots, and dancing inside a giant birdcage, the Disney teen sensation sings: 'If you're going to be my man, understand, I can't be tamed.'

She has recently sought to break free of her family-friendly image even as Disney Channel prepares in July to air the last series of her hit TV show Hannah Montana.

'The video isn't about being sexy or about who can wear less clothes. It's about explaining the song and living the lyrics,' she told E! Online. 'I don't want to be in a cage. I want to be free and do what I love.'

The video is from the album of the same name, Can't Be Tamed, due out on June 22. She has said it will be her last music album for a while as she concentrates on acting.

She was criticised by some American parents groups last August for briefly swinging on a pole on an ice-cream cart during a performance of her hit single Party In The U.S.A at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards.
