Glen's onstage love connection
by Charlene Chua

GLEN Goei hasn’t played matchmaker only to his friends.

He was instrumental in Mr Joseph Ang’s proposal to his girlfriend of four years, Ms Isabel Hong.

Mr Ang, a 26-year-old project manager, had asked Goei for permission to propose to Ms Hong on stage after the opening night performance of Goei’s comedy production Boeing Boeing three weeks ago.

The show, which is directed by Goei and stars Adrian Pang, Emma Yong and Wendy Kweh, ends its run at the Drama Centre tomorrow.

Said Goei: “I was only too happy to agree. Everyone in theatre does it only for the love of it as you may not always have a job.

“So anything to encourage love, really.”

Mr Ang said he and Goei concocted a “plan”, which would have Pang announce that he and Ms Hong were lucky draw winners at the end of the show so that they would be invited on stage.

After the pair went up, Mr Ang went down on bended knee and whipped out a 0.75 carat diamond ring.

He said to a teary-eyed Ms Hong: “This may be the most embarrassing or most important moment of my life. I hope to make you happy every day. Will you marry me?”

The audience broke out in appreciative applause.

Ms Hong, a 23-year-old relationship manager, said she was caught off guard. She accepted his proposal.

Boeing Boeing centres on a bachelor (Pang) who dates three beautiful air stewardesses at the same time.
