After remaining silent for so long, Chinese actress Vicki Zhao Wei finally hit back at the rumour mongers.

The 33-year-old had been laying low and staying out of the limelight after rumours of her getting knocked up by wealthy businessman Huang You Long became the headlines of the mainstream media.

If you believe what was written in the Hong Kong tabloids, the actress had reportedly stolen Huang away from his fiancée Tracy Ip, who was also Miss Hong Kong 2005.

It was widely speculated that the pair had tied the knot in Singapore last August. However, as soon as Zhao got pregnant, Huang broke his earlier promise of helping her to start a red wine business, reported the Hong Kong media.

Zhao recently took to Weibo – a Twitter-like microblogging service launched by China’s Sina.com – to vent her frustrations at the rumours that have been spreading like wildfire.

“I got many calls from my friends recently, inviting me to go for trips. I was delighted at first, but I soon found out that the invitations were extended because they had read the reports made up by the media who claimed that I was dumped and had been leading a miserable life.

“This was too much. The space devoted to the truth was pitiful compared to the space devoted to the false rumours,” she wrote.
