Sassy tips for female execs going places
by Victoria Barker

LADIES, it’s time to find your own style and let out your inner diva.

The Sassy Missy 2010 Workshop Series, to be held on April 24 at Marina Square’s Link Bridge Atrium, will help you do just that.

Now in its fourth year, the three-hour event aims to let young female executives indulge in an afternoon of beauty and fashion.

Comprising two main segments – a make-up and skincare class, and a fashion clinic – the workshop will provide tips on everything from eye make-up to creating a wardrobe that flatters your age, body type and personality.

Singaporean stylist Jeffrey Tay will be conducting the fashion clinic, Fashion Vs Style, and he told my paper that he hopes to raise awareness of the difference between the two.

“It’s important to realise that you can buy fashion but you can’t buy style,” he said.

“Style is personal and individual, and it’s up to you to create it.”

Tay has more than 20 years of industry experience, and worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Halle Berry and Ethan Hawke.

He hopes to dispel the myth that looking good comes at a high price.

“Style is not just about money,” he said. “You don’t have to be rich just to look stylish.”
He also wants to drive home the point that looking fabulous can do wonders for one’s image and self-esteem.

“Especially for young executives, they don’t have to be restricted to boring corporate wear,” he said. “It’s possible to inject a bit of flair into their everyday look.”

First impressions are critical, he added, and a sense of style provides the foundation that helps an executive look good as she moves up the career ladder.

The workshop costs $20 per person, which includes light refreshments and a goodie bag. Only 50 spaces are available.

Register for the Sassy Missy 2010 Workshop Series at mpsassy by next Sunday.
