Continuation of Jane's story...
Unforgiveness
I cannot forgive my father for the pain he caused us. I cannot forgive my mother for staying. I cannot forgive the woman and her sons for stealing what is ours. They all had choices. I didn’t. They made their warped bed and I had to lie in it.
We have a saying in the family: If you take what is not yours, you will have to pay it back a hundredfold.
So I choose to believe this and move on. She may not pay in this lifetime, or in her sons’ lifetime. But the debt will be repaid. A thousandfold. I won’t be the one dirtying my hands; I choose to live my own life.
* Jane (not her real name) is 24.
