Paint the town
by Karen Tee

1: Shu Uemura Compact Powder White
$66 (case and compact)

For a pale complexion that is not deathly white, dust on some of this powder after your regular foundation.

Use a light hand and apply some to your neck as well to avoid looking like a Chinese opera singer.

2: M.A.C Glimmerglass in Blackware
$36

If you think pure black lipstick is too much for everyday wear, try black lipgloss instead.

Layer this over your regular lipstick for a hint of your dark side.

This is part of M.A.C's Style Black range which also carries eyeshadows, liners as well as nail polishes.

3: O.P.I Nail Lacquer in Black Onyx,
$23.50, from Sephora

You need dark fingertips to complete your Queen of the Night look.

Keep fingernails short and square - long pointy nails may be too witchy for modern-day wear.

4: Guerlain Ombre Eclat 4 Shades in Brun Mordore
$82

Black eyeshadow may be too severe. For an alternative that flatters most skin tones, try an eye palette in velvety brown.

You still get dark dramatic eyes but in a shade that will not make you look washed out.

5: Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in Dragon
$49

Blood red lips are the staple of any goth chick worth her salt.

Try Chanel's new cream lipstick which comes with a nifty lipgloss applicator that makes beestung lips a cinch.

6: Majolica Majorca Jewelling Pencil
$14.50, from Watsons

Eyeliner is a must when channelling Morticia Addams.

Use this kohl pencil to line both the upper and lower lash lines and smudge.

Pair with a flashing, intense stare for maximum results.

All items are from their respective department store counters unless otherwise stated.
