Television host Quan Yifeng had part of her womb removed after a doctor discovered she had polyps, Lianhe Wanbao reported yesterday.
The 35-year-old, who has a nine-year-old daughter with her ex-husband, former actor Peter Yu, had the surgery done last Saturday. She went back to work on Monday to host a press conference launching the debut album of her friend and fellow host, Jeff Wang, the report said.
In an interview with the newspaper, she said she had a medical check-up after she caught a cold and went to the doctor. She was then told that she had polyps and that her uterus was 30 per cent more swollen than normal.
When the doctor advised a partial removal of her womb but said it would mean she could not have any more children, she did not hesitate, she said.
“I told him, I have a daughter already, it’s enough,” she was quoted as telling Wanbao.
She said she did not fear death but admitted having a moment of dread as she checked into the hospital with her daughter in tow.
As she was signing the papers, “I thought, would this be the last time I signed my name?”
She was due to receive a medical report yesterday and said she did not think the polyps were malignant.
