F4's Wu weds S'pore love

After Hong Kong stars Chow Yun Fatt and Francis Ng, Singapore has her third celebrity son-in-law in the form of Van Ness Wu.

On Thursday, the 35-year-old US-born Taiwanese singer-actor, best known as a member of Mandopop boy band F4, quietly tied the knot with his Singaporean jewellery designer girlfriend of seven years, Arissa Cheo, 31.

According to Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao, the pair, who filed their Notice of Marriage here on National Day, held a simple solemnisation ceremony, exchanging vows in front of Wu and Cheo's parents and close family members.

To avoid media attention, the savvy couple did a last-minute change in their solemnisation venue.

They had originally planned to do it at the Registry of Marriages at Canning Rise at 3pm on Thursday.

Lianhe Wanbao reported that the newlyweds arrived in a BMW at Cheo's private residence at Bukit Timah at 7.40pm, where two other cars - a Ferrari and Rolls-Royce - were parked outside the main gate.

According to the report, the BMW's windows were "covered with black tape".

Also, at no point did Wu and his wife roll down their windows.

Wu was said to have arrived in Singapore three days before their solemnisation ceremony and was reportedly spotted by a fan at a local gym on Monday.

Wedding banquet

Wu and Cheo will hold their wedding banquet in Los Angeles, at five-star hotel The Resort at Pelican Hill on Nov 15.

There will be a Christian ceremony at 3pm, a buffet spread for guests at 5pm and an after-party at night.

The couple began their romance in 2006 after Cheo starred in Wu's music video, My Kingdom.

They had an on-off relationship till Wu ditched his playboy ways and took a vow of celibacy in 2009.
