H&M launches New Icons line inspired by models
by Chrystal Chan

What do supermodels Joan Smalls, Liu Wen, Daphne Groeneveld and Lindsey Wixson have in common? (Besides being long, lithe and gorgeous?) They're all H&M's latest models and inspiration for the Swedish fast fashion brand's newest capsule collection, New Icons.

H&M New Icons collection ‒ a 24-piece mini collection ‒ will launch on April 11, 2013, and will consists of items inspired directly by the models' off-duty styles.

Expect a schizophrenic mix of influences from rock 'n' roll to gypsy bohemian with some tribal references thrown in. There's plenty of black and leather, both of which are must-haves in every model's closet. Fringe also shows up in a big way here, on necklaces and backs of jackets.

"These days I feel that every girl needs a perfect leather jacket to give themselves a cool factor. The jacket in this collection is amazing," says Liu Wen, adding that she would wear the collection on a daily basis.

We're liking how versatile this capsule collection is, thanks to the effortless basics like white t-shirts and relaxed tank tops which we can see ourselves wearing over and over. In fact, we can already conjure up an entire month's worth of outfits with these 24-pieces.

"I'm so happy and proud to be a face of the H&M New Icon Collection together with these amazing other girls. The collection has so many great additions to any wardrobe and it's so easy to mix it up and always look great," says Daphne Groeneveld.

Still not convinced? Let Joan Smalls tell it like it is.

"The new icon collection from H&M is very flattering and suits all of your needs. It's super cool and for your everyday girl who wants to look great and feel comfortable at the same time," she said.

"I loved the look I was wearing because it's something I would see in the store and would want to wear. The vest gives you versatility and you can mix and match it to change your outfit."

The New Icons will be in H&M stores from April 11, 2013, and prices start from $14.90 for a t-shirt to $199 for a pair of leather boots.
