Lip-smacking

Give your lips a treat without making them look glittery or tacky

L'Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain $18.90

I'm generally not a huge fan of lip gloss, but this one, I really, really loved.

The gloss itself is light and not sticky - it was almost as if I wasn't wearing any product at all.

Though some colours were a tad too sheer for my liking, the sleek, glassy finish more than made up for it.

The deciding factor for me was that the gloss had no glitter in it and made my lips look plump and moist without appearing glittery or tacky.

I felt that the lip gloss also moisturised, leaving my lips feeling soft, even after removal.

Top all that with a classy gold packaging that makes it look like a designer gloss? I'm completely sold.

This gloss is my new everyday must-have.

Available at selected Watsons stores.

Make Up For Ever Lab Shine $34

Depending on which collection you pick, the lip gloss has slightly different finishes.

Of the three - Star, Metal and Diamond - my favourite would have to be the Star collection, which is the most discreet of the lot.

However, all three options had a very sheer finish, with varying amounts of glitter.

I felt that the glittery options were still very wearable and none came across as tacky or overly shiny, which I appreciated. Best worn over a nice lipstick.

However, I found that I did not really like the texture of the lip glosses. They were a tad stickier and thicker than I find comfortable wearing for extended periods.

I did love the scent and taste, which were sweet without being overpowering or sickly. All in all, a decent lip product.

Available at all Sephora stores and the Make Up For Ever Academy & Pro Loft at Armenian Street

Candy Doll Strawberry Milk Lipgloss $20.72

With its creamy, milky finish, this lip gloss certainly lived up to its name.

I liked how the gloss was opaque enough for the colour to show up while still remaining discreet. The creamy, shiny finish allows it to be used both with and without lipstick.

But I did not like the consistency - it felt thick and sticky.

The lip gloss also had a synthetic smell and was not as sweet smelling or sweet tasting as I would have liked. Ironically, that's a plus point as it means I tended not to lick it off as often.

The product stayed on for longer than most, but I had to fight the urge to wipe it off, it was that sticky.

All in all, quite lasting and pretty, but only for people who don't mind a thicker textured gloss.

Available at zalora.sg
