Much ado about Yeoh's 'I do'
by Edmund Ngo

IPOH - Bond girl Datuk Seri Michelle Yeoh looks ready to be tied down.

There is a lot of buzz again about wedding bells ringing for the movie star following online reports about her wanting to hold the ceremony in her home town here.

"I'm currently thinking on how to arrange a special ceremony for my marriage," she was quoted as saying. Apparently, she wanted it to be held in Ipoh as her 87-year-old father has difficulty travelling abroad.

The 50-year-old Ipoh-born actress spoke about her plans during a premiere of her documentary film, Pad Yatra: A Green Odyssey for which she is the executive producer.

According to its website, the documentary is about the adventure of 700 people trekking across the Himalayas with a mission to save the planet's "3rd Pole," a glacial region devastated by climate chaos linked to global warming.

Yeoh has been engaged to Jean Todt, 67, the International Auto-mobile Federation (FIA) president since 2005.

According to the online report, she had "openly discussed her wedding plans" with reporters who attended the premiere.

When contacted here, Datin Janet Yeoh, the actress's mother, answered cheerfully that she had no idea of any wedding plans.

"I don't know about any plans and have not heard anything from her as she is not in Malaysia at the moment."

The actress, she said, had been in Ipoh last month for the Christmas holidays.

"We keep in touch whenever we can," she said, acknowledging that many people had been calling her to ask about Yeoh's purported wedding plans.
