Local celebrity Kym Ng has always been coy about her age. So when her age was revealed as "40s" in a local newspaper in December last year, did it mean that she no longer has qualms about telling the world how old she was?

In response to My Paper's query, Kym denied that she had ever told anyone from the local English daily her age. She said: "No, I didn't tell them. Just let them write what they want, haha!"

Despite not having ever made her age public, she was quick to add that her age was no big secret either. She said: "A lot of people know how old I am, especially my friends.

"I'm not afraid of making my age known, but I do not want others to judge my capabilities based on a number."

Kym can currently be seen acting as a beer promoter on Channel 8's Reunion dinner, where she can be seen revealing her tummy and wearing a one-piece swim suit. 

Is she afraid that people will eventually be able to figure out how old she is?

She said: "I'm not young anymore, but I don't want my age to be a barrier and have people say, 'But you're at this age already, how can you play such a young or old role?'

"I won't reject the role based on age, and I do hope people will judge me for my ability to play my characters well."

And what if her age does get revealed one day? Kym still insisted that "people should look at me for who I am. But really, a lot of people know how old I am!"
