Dayang goes global

Sexy singing sensation Dayang Nurfaizah Awang Dowty takes a coffee break and shares her plans for "global domination".

Q: I hear that you are working extra hard this year.

A: I will release three albums this year. A live album, which was recorded at Planet Hollywood last July, will be out this month. Next month, I will release a single album with two songs -- Luka and Losing Me -- and it will be sold together with the novel, Luka. After that I will release a full album under the Global One Music Project where I will be representing Malaysia.

Q: All that and you are busy with Karyawan too!

A: (laughs) As the head of Karyawan's young artistes bureau, I have to plan their activities. Oh, did I mention that I am also involved in an environment conservation campaign for the young?

Q: What's the big plan for this year, your 10th year in showbiz?

A: I am in the midst of planning a major concert for my fans.

Q: What do you do in your free time?

A: I spend time with my parents and siblings at home. Home is the best place for me when I'm not working.

Q: When was the last time you went for a vacation?

A: I was in Morocco in November 2007 for work, but I managed to visit Rabat and Casablanca.

Q: Whose album are you currently listening to?

A: I'm listening to the Outlandish. In fact I have re-recorded one of the songs, Calling You, for my live album.

Q: What's your goal in life?

A: To bring my music to an international level. Being involved in the Global One Music Project is the first step.

Q: What advice from your parents that you will never forget?

A: My mother told me to "never forget who you are and stay grounded because with this career you could easily get carried away with the glamour and popularity".
