Secret to 11 years of marital bliss

PETALING JAYA - Having juggled hats as a career woman, mother and wife for more than a decade, 43-year-old Carynne Ooi is happy to celebrate her 11th wedding anniversary with her husband today.

Ooi, the Acer Sales and Services (M) Sdn Bhd senior marketing manager (Asia Pacific), said the past 11 years had been one of discovery and growing together as a couple.

"When we got married, we did not think so far ahead that our 11th anniversary would fall on Nov 11, 2011 and it is a truly significant date for us," she said when met at her home with her husband Low Gah Luen, 41.

Low, who owns an IT distribution company, said they had known each other for almost 17 years and described his wife as his best friend.

"For us, it's all about communication and trust.

"We also make it a point to settle all our arguments before going to bed," he said when asked what kept their marriage strong.

Ooi said her husband was a very caring man who demonstrated his affection in small but surprising ways.

"For example, he always asks me to sleep first so his snoring won't disturb me. But I think it's good I can hear his snoring, so I know he's by my side," said the mother of two daughters.

Yes. Mutual trust is critical for long lasting marriage. But it must not be blind trust and the other partner take advantage to cheat and have extra marital affairs whether personal or public!

Cheating men must be castrated. Cheating wives must be burnt down there.
