A man divorced his wife and sought one yuan (14 cents) in compensation after discovering she had been having an affair for several years.

Wang and his wife had a daughter in 2002 the year after they married, but in July he learned she had been seeing another man since 2005.

She had pretended to be a single woman and treated their daughter as a child of her relative in order to win over the stranger.

"This has damaged our affection and I wanted to divorce her and I want full custody of our daughter," he said at a court in Haidian district of Beijing, where he was surprised at getting the nod on Monday.
