Stars turned out in style for the 49th Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan on Saturday.
Billed as the Chinese-language Oscars, actors and actresses from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan arrived dressed to the nines for the ceremony, held in Ilan.
But netizens were less than impressed by some of their satorial choices, which were significantly more conservative than those of previous years.
The "va-va-voom factor" was missing in Taiwanese model and actress Lin Chi Ling's white gown.
While her strappy dress showed off some skin and her ample assets, it was panned by Chinese netizens for being "run-of-the-mill".
Chinese actress Li Bing Bing also received flak for her unflattering long-sleeved green column dress with a chunky gold and turquise necklace.
Netizens slammed her shapeless sack of a dress, saying that it resembles a "nightgown one would wear to bed".
Best Leading Actress winner, Taiwanese actress Gwei Lun Mei, fared no better. She wore a white gown with a scoop neckline and cinched waist accented with a metallic belt.
But the billowy skirt on her dress was panned for making her look like a "sky lantern".
