Nevermind that none of the Asian films at the recently-concluded Cannes Film Festival this year were strong contenders for the coveted Palme D'Or prize.
Asian stars made up for it by making their presence felt on the red carpet.
Chinese actresses like Fan Bing Bing and Gong Li continually stunned photographers throughout the 12-day event.
This year, Fan, 30, strode down the red carpet in an intricate ivory embroidered dress by her friend and designer, Christopher Bu.
The "Tang dynasty" dress was complemented by her hair, pinned to look like a style from the era. According to media reports, Fan wanted "something special" for the red carpet.
Fellow Mainland actress Li Bing Bing, 39, opted for more slinky, elegant gowns which impressed, nonetheless.
Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung, whose marriage woes have dogged the headlines in the past year, also made an appearance.
Her latest film, Dangerous Liaisons, a Chinese-language remake of the French classic, was screened at the festival.
The 65th annual Cannes Film Festival came to a close on Sunday, climaxing with the award of the Palme d'Or to director Michael Haneke's film, "Love" (Amour).
