Groom calls off wedding, bride’s father faints

THE father of a bride-to-be fainted and his family was left deeply embarrassed after the groom cancelled the wedding at the 11th hour, Harian Metro reported.

The paper said the 26-year-old groom sent his fiancee Nor Adriana Hairudin, 25, a text message asking for the wedding to be cancelled.

The SMS came two days before the wedding feast at the bride’s home in Batu Pahat.

The report stated that the family was later informed by an Islamic affairs department officer at the Kuantan army camp, where the groom worked, that the man had not attended the compulsory marriage counselling course and failed to obtain leave for his wedding.

The man’s marriage course certificate, which he sent to the girl’s family earlier, was found to be a fake document.

The report stated that Nor Adriana’s father, Hairudin Ahmad, 50, fainted due to stress.

The wedding feast was turned into a kenduri doa selamat (thanksgiving) feast instead.
