Women as capable as men

THE plight of pregnant workers and their employers has been discussed on the national platform as well as in the media.

I hope that the Ministry of Manpower, labour unions, employers and superiors could work out viable solutions to the matter.

Single women may eventually get married, while married women may want to start a family after some time.

Does that mean that this group of employees are ruled out unfairly in employment matters, and are subject to the possibility of being dismissed or retrenched when they find themselves pregnant?

It is not fair as women have the same capability, skills and experience as men, in terms of job scopes, duties and responsibilities.

They should be allowed the same opportunity for career advancement and promotions.
