Juice Beauty's Green Apple Peel Sensitive
by Cynthia Loh

I must admit I wasn't really impressed with the exfoliating properties of Juice Beauty's Green Apple Peel Sensitive when I first tried it. My thoughts when I tried it was that it did not feel like an exfoliator at all. After all, it was a juice-based concoction that does not have the usual exfoliating beads which I'm familiar with when I think of an exfoliating peel.

But I tried it again recently, after a bout of sickness made me neglect my skin's health and in the process left the skin on my jaw area feeling like sandpaper, but I wasn't prepared to use a stronger exfoliator that may make me scrub too hard and damage my skin which was already feeling sensitive from neglect. Following directions, I applied the peel generously all over my face and neck for 10 minutes, and this time, I must say the effect was dramatically different from when I first tried it.

My skin immediately felt smoother without that scrubbed-raw sensation. The roughness that had been on my jaw for the last few days had disappeared and I was very happy that the rough patches had been cleared without much effort.

Made with hydroxy-acid complex of certified organic apple, lemon, grape juices and raw cane sugar, the concoction is also paraben-free, so you can be assured there's no harmful chemicals too.

A word of caution though - like all hydroxy-acid products, the Green Apple Peel Sensitive can cause sun sensitivity, so it's advisable to use once a week and slather on a generous amount of sunblock before stepping outdoors after you're done using it. The manufacturer cautions that it may cause some users to feel a mild tingling sensation, although this did not happen to me. so it's best to do a skin patch test first before you use it on the rest of your face.

Available at Sephora Ngee Ann City and ION for S$89 for 60ml.
