One more resource stop for newly-weds and married couples

Maintaining a marriage is no bed of roses.

So Marriage Central, an initiative by the National Family Council, has set up a resource website marriagecentral.sg, for couples who need more information on how to make their marriage work.

The website was officially launched its website today offering marriage-related information and programmes and will cater to dating couples, newly-weds and older married couples.

It also features a number of useful applications including 365 daily love tips, where couples can be alerted of fun and interesting suggestions to spice up their daily love lives, as well as links to other websites such as the Registry of Marriages and Central Provident Fund, for those who need to utilise these resources.

It also sports a calendar of events which couples can take part in together, as well as real life stories from featured married couples and experts.

Ms Anita Fam, Chairperson, Marriage Central Advisory Board, emphasized the initiative's aim to promote stronger, healthier and happier relationships. She said: "Marriage Central is here to reach out to couples in a real and assuring way, to say that there is no 'perfect' marriage and that marriage is a partnership which requires constant care to thrive and grow."

Marriage Central wants to champion marriage wellness through joint efforts with voluntary welfare organisations and other service providers that work in the area of marriage preparation, enrichment and counselling.

It will also be launching its flagship campaign, Real Love Works 2009, in the coming weeks to remind couples that real love endures beyond the 'honeymoon phase' of marriage.

And as part of the campaign, Marriage Convention 2009 will feature international and local couple speakers who will address marital issues such as recession-proofing a marriage and rekindling intimacy as the marriage grows and matures. The convention will be open to public on March 28 and 29.
