THIS group of 23-year-old girls are looking to kickstart an awareness programme on dating violence in Singapore.
Students Angeline Leow, Priscilla Li, Jasmine Ng and Carmen Lee are doing this as part of their final-year project in their communicationstudies at Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
Said Miss Lee: “Our group seeks to accomplish two objectives by the end of this project.
“Firstly, to promote awareness to Singaporeans who are still in the dark about dating violence.
“Secondly, to encourage victims of such violence to come forward and seek help from social workers.”

They have been working with the Centre for Promoting Alternatives to Violence (PAVe)on this project since last October.
As part of the dating violence awareness week that started on7 Feb and ends tomorrow, this group of final-year NTU undergraduates have gone to schools and universities to promote awareness of dating violence.
They held their launch event at Tampines Mall last Saturday.
Throughout this week, they gave talks at the Boys’ and Girls’ homes and Victoria Junior College. Information booths manned by the four have been set up at National University of Singapore (NUS) and NTU.
A campaign video will also be shown on the Music Television(MTV) channel and school campuses.
There’s also a Facebook group called “Choose Love, Not Abuse – Dating Violence Awareness Week.”
