Mother turns abusive

PETALING JAYA, Malaysia: Frustrated with her husband, a woman vented her anger on her 12-year-old daughter by scalding her with a hot iron and beating her with a mop.

The girl's predicament came to light when her teacher at a school in Klang noticed burn marks on her arms and bruises on her thighs and back of her head last Wednesday.

The teacher called police and the child told them she was beaten by her mother on Monday.

The woman was said to have flown into a rage after the child told her father about the woman's alleged extra-marital affair.

The victim, who is the eldest of three children, also told police that she got beaten up every time the woman had an argument with the husband. The housewife has been detained to facilitate investigations.
In another case, a 36-year-old woman kicked her 10-year-old stepson in his stomach after he refused to put away his toys in their home in Damansara Jaya.

The incident happened last Monday when the boy was at home with the woman. She had packed several of his toys in a plastic bag and put them in the storeroom.

When the boy took the bag out of the storeroom, the enraged woman grabbed the bag and swung it towards the boy, hitting him on the head. The boy fell down and the woman then allegedly kicked him three times in his stomach.

When the assault continued, the boy fought back by punching his stepmother several times. He later called his father.

The following day, the woman refused to let the boy enter the house after school.

He was forced to wait under the scorching sun for several hours, until his father came home.

The father then took the boy to a police station where they lodged a report against the woman who is now being probed for child abuse.
