Singapore's Cutest Babies
by Meredith woo

The mother of six-month-old Kaelyn playfully calls her the Michelin Baby, because of the fleshy flaps on her arms, legs and stomach, which brings to mind Bibendum, the famous mascot of the Michelin tyre company.

Kaelyn is the top winner for the second season of the very popular Stomp Cutest Babies Contest. The contest was extended to last Thursday because of the overwhelming response, with a total of 214 entries received.

She and four runners-up bagged attractive prizes, courtesy of Abbott Singapore.

Kaelyn has won a $600 package consisting of a Glenn Doman baby educational-programme set, a FisherPrice play set and Abbott milk formula.

The four runners-up will receive baby-product packages - worth over $300 - with Glenn Doman educational programmes and Abbott milk formula.

Kaelyn's mother, bank executive Cheryl Chong, said she was alerted to the contest by her husband, who regularly surfs the Singapore Seen section while on the go via Stomp's iPhone App.

"I was not expecting Kaelyn to clinch the top prize as the other babies are also very adorable," Cheryl said.

"However, I would say that being a 'Michelin' baby is her selling point," added the bubbly mother, who has over 32GB of Kaelyn's photos on her phone.

One of the runners-up is baby Sattvic, who is always very busy with trips to libraries and play dates scheduled by his loving mother, Simran Parwani.

Then there is baby LeAnn, whose race, "Pinochin", was coined by her Chinese mother, Joann Lim, and Filipino father, Leo Zeus Apinan.

The other two consolation prizes go to proud parents Bella Lee and Kelvin Gn, and their curly- haired "angel" baby Claire, and parents Irah and Syed with their baby Nayla Camelia, whose name means "most successful flower".

Simran, an avid Stomp reader, is very proud of Sattvic's win.

"My baby has won something, and this is the first contest I entered him in," she said.

The 29-year-old is a full-time mother. She takes her 16-month-old son to the library, to attend swimming lessons and even to watch musicals.

"It brings mothers a lot of joy to see their babies' photos on the website," she said.

The excitement of sharing and seeing their babies' photos online also helps to forge bonds between parents, said Joann, a marketing- communications executive.

She said: "We shared Kaelyn's story on Facebook. I would track the number of views on her story regularly. Everyone was very excited to see LeAnn on the Stomp website."
