Fans of the K-pop girl group Wonder Girls have been surprised by the sudden announcement of the upcoming wedding of lead singer Sun, perhaps because she refuted those marriage rumours in September through a Twitter message.

In a press statement released this week by her managers, JYP Entertainment, it's confirmed that she'll be married on 26th January next year.

Officials from JYPE said that Sun, who's fronted Korea's top pop female act for six years, finally expressed her desire to marry her Korean-American boyfriend, and that the other four members of her group gave their full support.

After the wedding, Sun will devote herself to married life for a time while her bandmates use that chance to pursue their own activities.

Sun, whose name is Min Sun-ye, went public about her relationship last year on the Korean TV talk show Strong Heart, but had until recently denied there was anything more to the love affair.
