Cao: Former lover requested for money

SINGAPORE - Actor Terence Cao, who is currently embroiled in a paternity scandal, has said that the Shanghainese woman who claims he is the father of her child had asked him for money.

But Cao stressed that if a DNA test proves that he is the father of the 19-month-old girl, he would not shy away from responsibility, he told the Shin Min Daily News.

The 26-year-old was in Singapore with her daughter, and met with Cao on Oct 19. But she reportedly left Singapore the next day, missing the scheduled appointment for the DNA test.

The woman, known as Ms Shi, has remained uncontactable.

Cao has been evading the media spotlight in the aftermath of the scandal, refusing to give interviews.

But on Monday, he answered questions from reporters during a phone interview.

When asked if the woman had requested for living expenses, Cao said "yes", but said that he would not be handing over any cash without proof of paternity.

Cao added that from her actions, he is still not sure what Ms Shi wants from him.

According to the Chinese daily, Ms Shi had told the media that she still loves Cao, and even if he were penniless, she would still be willing to stay by his side.

To that, the Channel 8 actor said that "now is not the time to discuss such matters of the heart among adults, we should focus on the child instead".

Ms Shi had also indicated her wish for her child to be brought up in Singapore and educated here.

Cao said his lawyer is still trying to contact Ms Shi in Shanghai, and he will continue to pursue the case he wants to know the truth as well.

He even requested for the media's help in contacting Ms Shi.

"The truth will come to light one day, and I also hope to give everyone an answer. I just hope to resolve this as soon as possible," said Cao.

Are we too assuming here ?
The woman left without doing the DNA tests. Does this mean that she is guilty ? Could this be the agreement reached between the 2 parties ?

There are many things that we do not know here.

If the girl is really his after the DNA test, he should take responsibility, which I believe he will. I think nobody will give up his fresh and blood.

Her message was clear, that the man shd also want the mum, besides the baby. When she knew it was not what was going to happen, she wld choose the baby than to abundant her, so bye bye and she became not contactable. At least, the baby was not proven to be the actor s child, she has full disposal to how she want the babys care and control to be. If she went for DNA, the man will have a say on the care and control, and they wld go court, and might ending up she becomes the loser. This woman is a smart breed, typical shangahinese.

It meant she did not want to negotiate for the baby to stay in SG while she part to stay in China. Objectively speaking, she wld not get any money but losing the baby, bcose she is .....

""The picture showing the actor feeding the baby was taken by reporters after waiting for both to emerge from lawyer office.""

Hi Laugh, thanks for clarifying, I see.

On your question on "If the man is asked by the court here to pay maintenance, the child might have to stay here, will she want that?"

It was indeed reported in the Sin Min papers that the chinawoman ever mentioned that she's not here for Cao's $$$. Even if he (Cao) is penniless, she would still be willing to be with him 'cos she still loves him and also she wants her daughter to be brought up and receive education in Singapore. That's what she said when asked by reporters if she's here to as for maintenance from Cao.

Getting interesting. Anything is possible as the 2 adults are not married. The picture showing the actor feeding the baby was taken by reporters after waiting for both to emerge from lawyer office. How can the picture is used to proof a relationship? It has to be DNA as the actor disclaimed and the woman insisted to ask for maintenance for the child. But she has a problem. If the man is asked by the court here to pay maintenance, the child might have to stay here, will she want that?

She might have been advised by lawyer here, assuming she is the mum of the child. Scum is possible in the past for goodu screwers, now adays, where can woman ask a man to feed others child? There is DNA test. Even she can cheat say this actor now, she cannot cheat .....

I also have a feeling that the whole episode is actually a scam planned before hand.
In some of the news report, there is a picture which shows Cao sitting opposite the chinawoman and her daughter ( apparently in a coffee house or something ) with Cao feeding the little girl. From the picture, it seems to be taken without Cao's knowledge. The question is who took this picture ? Was it deliberately taken (without Cao's knowledge) so as to use it later to proof what chinawoman claimed :confused::confused:

Terence Cao should not wait for his former lover to request for money.
Since he enjoyed her so much, social responsibility should set in until he manage to resolve
their problem.

No test, no conclusion. I also don't know if she fled or cao made her fled. Even if the child is his, I also don't know if she love him or his money or both. :D
