Her side of the story
by Kwok Kar Peng

Last week, a 26-year-old Shanghainese woman who wanted to be known only as Miss Shi gave a "tell-all" interview to Chinese daily Lianhe Zaobao.

She had flown in from Shanghai, China, on Oct 7 with her 19-month-old daughter.

She claimed MediaCorp actor Terence Cao made her pregnant, then deserted her and their baby.

She said they met at a party in Shanghai in May 2010 and had a one-night stand.

They exchanged phone numbers and kept in touch.

The following month, she claimed, he invited her to Singapore and paid for her air ticket. In her two weeks here, she stayed at his home and met several of his friends.

Kept in touch

The woman said they kept in contact after she returned to China.

She found out she was pregnant in July. She said the child was his and that she told him about it.

Miss Shi claimed Cao told her to have an abortion at first, but later told her to keep the baby.

She claimed that she is certain the baby is his as she didn't date or have sexual contact with any other man since meeting him.

Cao had also given her many promises in the last two years, but none was fulfilled, she alleged.

She said she decided to speak to the media as she hoped it would pressure him into acknowledging their baby.

She wants the daughter to attend school here and she wants to stay in Singapore to look after the baby.

She added she still loves Cao and would marry him if he asked.

Miss Shi said: "I'm not here just for the money.

"If that was the case, I could have gone public with this when I was pregnant.

"I just want to give my daughter a complete family...

"I thought the baby would change him but I was wrong. There were times when he was really nice, but there were also times when he was not a normal man."
