Entertainers, sportsmen and politicians have found themselves embroiled in baby-daddy sagas. Here are some recent cases:
Politician
Powerful Indian politician Narain Dutt Tiwari was proved to be the biological father of a 32-year-old man in July this year.
The Delhi High Court announced the findings, after Mr Tiwari exhausted all his legal options in trying to stop the results of the test from being made public.
The man said Mr Tiwari and his mother had an affair when Mr Tiwari was Youth Congress president.
Mr Tiwari, a four-time chief minister and governor, rose to prominence as a freedom fighter who was jailed during British rule.
He became chief minister of the northern states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and was later the governor of the southern Andhra Pradesh state.
Sportsman
Former Brazilian footballer Ronaldo was proved to be the biological father of a five-year-old boy in 2010. The acknowledgement came after a year-long effort by the boy’s mother to have him recognise their child.
It was reported that under Brazilian law, child support has to be based on what the parents can afford given their income and what the child needs.
This means that the child will get what’s enough for his well-being, which will include things like his housing, education, clothing, food, health care, leisure and sports.
Entertainer
Hollywood star Eddie Murphy was proved to be the biological father of three-year-old Angel Iris in 2010.
The girl’s mother is former Spice Girl Melanie Brown.
Before this, Murphy and Brown were in a very public battle about the identity of the baby’s father.
Murphy denied being the father, while Brown said otherwise. The two were in a short-lived relationship in 2006.
False alarm
Canadian pop star Justin Bieber was embroiled in a paternity suit late last year when a 20-year-old single mum claimed he was the father of her son, then four months old. Bieber later took a DNA test to prove he did not father the child and the suit was dropped.
