SINGAPORE - Ms Tin Pei Ling's Kate Spade bag was sold for $1,600 at the Association of Women for Action and Research's (Aware's) fund-raising gala yesterday evening.
The MP for Marine Parade GRC had famously posed with the bag in a leaked picture during the general election last year.
Ms Tin, 29, had received the bag as a gift from her husband, who bought it at a sale.
The starting bid was $500, and a total of three bids were made.
The bag was won by a 29-year-old man, who works in the marine trading industry. He declined to be named, but told The Straits Times that he will be giving the bag to his mother.
He said he wanted to "show support for Aware's programmes and the new generation of the People's Action Party".
Ms Tin had agreed to put the bag up for auction when she was approached by Aware in June.
At the gala held at the Grand Corpthorne Waterfront hotel, Ms Tin said she thought the idea was "bold and creative".
She added that her husband was supportive and agreed that it was for a worthy cause.
