Not all models are dumb

Jessica Ee, 21, who is pursuing her medical degree at NUS's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, will be a doctor in three years' time.

The head-turner said: "A lot of people are surprised that I'm in medicine. They always think that girls who are into fashion and the arts won't be into the sciences."

She also disproves the stereotype of models being "all looks and no brains".

People have told her that they think "models are supposed to be dumb".

Jessica has indeed straddled well the two very different worlds of fashion and medicine.

She said: "It's very difficult because it's time-consuming, so I maximise my time and use my waiting time (during photoshoots) to revise (my studies)."

She reveals that her friends in the fashion industry are intrigued by her field of study and like to ask her questions about diseases and their symptoms.

Though Jessica may portray two different facets, what lies beneath is essentially one person.

"No matter who I am, I'm still the same person," she said.
