HALLELUJAH! The Minnetonka Moccasin brand has finally hit town.

The brand makes boots and moccasins, and is the name behind the It shoes that have been making the rounds at festivals on the feet of celebrities like Kate Moss and Drew Barrymore.

But Minnetonka isn't driven by celebrity endorsements. The company, founded more than 60 years ago, bases its designs on classic Native American styles.

Original moccasins, worn by various tribes in North America, were made from one piece of leather, stitched with sinew.

Moccasins are still being made and worn by many Indian tribes today, but have passed into the American mainstream.

Minnetonka Moccasin was named for a town in Minnesota which was home to the Dakota natives and the Ojibway tribe.

Little else is known about the company, which chooses to keep mum on its history and let the quality of its work do the talking (and walking).

The boots and mocs come in a range of styles, made from deerskin or cowhide. Find everything from beaded ankle boots to high-top back-zip boots.
