I am a fan of boots...
by Hong Xinyi

Q: I am a fan of boots and I have taken a liking to the green pair worn by actress Felicia Chin in a magazine photo shoot. I think such boots are popular in Taiwan and would like to know where I can find them here. Also, how do I wear them so I don't become a fashion hazard?

A: First of all, thank you for the image of the photo shoot you so helpfully included in your e-mail. It made the detective work a lot easier. Unfortunately, we cannot reproduce the low-resolution image here.

However, you will be pleased to know that the matte green boots (above) you covet are from Doc Martens and are available at multi-label boutique Front Row.

They also come in very cute yellow, blue, red and white and go for $159 per pair. Other Doc Martens styles available include shiny patent leather models in turquoise, coral, pink and purple (also $159) and gold and floral-patterned ones which go for $199 per pair.

As for avoiding fashion hazards, all you have to remember is that when your boots come in such striking colours, you should keep the rest of your outfit in more understated colours such as black and white, like this shirt-waist dress (Picture 2) from Tommy Hilfiger ($329, 01-38 Raffles City).

What would also go well with boots would be this nylon jacket (Picture 3) from Nicholas ($259.90), or this white dress (Picture 4) with embossed floral details from Jessica ($209).

Just pull on a pair of coloured tights and you are all set to dazzle.
