Impress your date with sky-high dining
by Cynthia Loh

A classy dinner, a couple of drinks, and of course, that all-important view.

What could make for a better formula than this if you ever needed to impress your date, or rekindle that long-lost feeling with your spouse?

Diva recommends you try these places - which come with a romantic view of the skyline - for that special anniversary. Works just as well when you want to get away from it all, if only for a little while.

ION Sky (2 Orchard Turn, Singapore 238801) - Opening in November 25, Salt Grill will be the latest in a string of celebrity restaurants to open at an elevated height. Located at 218m above the heart of Orchard Road at ION Sky, it features Australian celebrity chef Luke Mangan. Take in the view with drinks at the bar, located on Level 56, followed by dinner with an unparalleled 360 degree view of Singapore's premier shopping belt.

Equinox Complex (80 Bras Basah Road, Singapore 189560) - Located in Swissotel The Stamford at 226m, there are five restaurants and bars to choose from - Equinox Restaurant, New Asia, Jaan Restaurant, City Space and Introbar. Start with drinks at either City Space, or New Asia, followed by a leisurely dinner at Equinox Restaurant or Jaan Restaurant. The views on offer overlook the Padang, Esplanade, Marina Bay area and the CBD, and its highest floors are located on Level 70 - 72. Call 6837 3322 for reservations.

1-Altitude (1 Raffles Place, Singapore 048616) - Spread across three floors from level 61 - 63, 1-Altitude sits on the rooftop of the UOB Building, which is situated in the heart of the CBD. It is a lifestyle venue that offers fine dining options and a bar with a view.

The rooftop offers a sense of unblocked spaciousness, as the perimeter is only hemmed in by waist-high glass panels. Check out the views as you take a sip on your drink and soak in the sunset in the open.

Call 638 0410 for reservations.

Sands SkyPark (10 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore 018970) - After a busy day of keeping up with your date at the Marina Bay Shoppes, end it on a high when you bring her to the rooftop garden that houses Ku De Tat, a restaurant-bar-club on the 57th floor of the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark. Another restaurant, The Sky on 57, will be opened and run by celebrity chef Justin Quek at the end of the year. You can see as far as Johor and even Bintan and Batam on a clear day.

If you are not keen on the food, a $20 entry fee to the observation deck, where the eatery will be, is required.

Call 6688 8868 for reservations.

Top of the M (333 Orchard Road, Singapore 238867) - Situated in Meritus Mandarin, this is a revolving restaurant that offers French food on the 39th floor of the hotel.

The night view is the one to go for if you want something that is warm and cosy, as the interiors of the restaurant becomes bathed with the surrounding city lights and takes on a romantic atmosphere that will captivate both you and your partner.

Call 6831 6258 for reservations.
