Judge: I can understand husband's anger
by Chong Shing Yen

$100 a month enough
But the Family Court felt that $100 a month was sufficient as she was earning $800 a month as a stall assistant.

The court gave the man care and control of their children, though he was to have joint custody with his ex-wife.

Said District Judge Jocelyn Ong: “I could understand the husband’s anger and bitterness at the wife’s conduct and the failure of his marriage and his unwillingness to give the wife any share of the matrimonial flat.”

Judge Ong did not agree that the woman should get 50 per cent of their flat. But she ordered the man to pay his ex-wife $20,000 as her share of the flat. His ex-wife then appealed.

The man,who was represented by lawyer Gregory Fong, said that his ex-wife had been “leading a promiscuous lifestyle” and that she hadcontracted the sexually transmitted infection before their marriage.

He found out about the infection only when she was pregnant with their first child.

On July 23, the High Court kept her monthly maintenance at $100, but ordered the man to pay her $30,000 as her share of their flat.
