In fashion, designers are always looking to relate to the body, creating an association between skin and clothes. Stella McCartney referred to skin colour in her collection with pale pink.
For Chanel, pastel shades were teamed with hounds-tooth jackets whilst Givenchy daringly presented a trouser suit in a slightly more orange shade.
Even coats, trenches and dresses played with the confusion between fabric and skin such as in the Valentino collection.
Transparency also relates to the body as well as emphasising femininity. Blouses and tops allow you to catch a glimpse of the lingerie worn beneath adding a sexy aspect which was also used on tunics and dresses.
It’s a subtle trend that lets you suggest rather than display.
