Despite homegrown pop idol Hady Mirza's wish to keep his marriage private, guests at his solemnisation ceremony in Johor last Saturday have been posting pictures of the 34-year-old singer and his bride on social media.
In the posts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, they congratulated the couple and named his wife as Nur Jannah. She is believed to be from Johor. They are reportedly on their honeymoon in the Maldives now.
In an interview with Life!, Hady's aunt, who wanted to be known only as Auntie Yani, described Ms Jannah as a soft-spoken and sweet young woman in her early 20s with a sunny deposition. She called the marriage "a surprise blessing from God", declining to elaborate.
Known for his smooth vocals, Hady won the second season of Singapore Idol in 2006 and the regional competition Asian Idol in 2007.
Subsequently, he released two albums - Hady Mirza (2008) and Sang Penyanyi (2009). His hit Ku Tetap Kan Menunggu won most popular song in Singapore at Anugerah Planet Musik 2012, an award event organised by two Malay radio stations WARNA 94.2FM & RIA 89.7FM.
In recent months, he has stepped away from the limelight to spend more time at FRHM Youth, a local organisation he co-founded which promotes a Muslim education and way of life among youth.
