Elva Hsiao's love life under scrutiny

After reports broke that Malaysian billionaire businessman Jho Low reportedly threw Elva Hsiao an extravagant RM5 million (S$2million) surprise dinner date, the pop star's love life has been under close scrutiny.

Low reportedly planned the date at the exclusive Atlantis The Palm hotel and resort in Dubai, all to declare his love and affection for her.

Someone with access to the date posted a five-minute-plus clip on YouTube of the extravaganza night, in which Jho woos Elva with a romantic dinner, roses, orchids, jewellery, live music and fireworks at the hotel's private beach.

He also had a big heart shaped into the sand by a hundred candles. Out on the sea itself, a giant neon light backdrop hung between two yachts with the message "Jho [hearts] Elva".

Halfway through dinner, two men parachuted down from the sky to present Elva with a Chopard pendant-and-necklace set estimated at RM83,500.

This was followed by a million-ringgit fireworks show and a violin performance.

Throughout the night, they were captured hugging and holding hands.

Although she was touched to tears, Elva allegedly turned down his 'proposal'.

Elva's manager has clarified that the incident happened last year.

According to Apple Daily, Hsiao 33, rejected the proposal as she only saw Low, 31, as a “little brother”.

This is not the first time Elva has been linked to Low. Last Sept, an advertisement appeared in the newspaper, requesting for "one chance" to win the singer's heart.

The initials printed at the end of the ad was L.S., but netizens immediately named Low as the likely suitor, although he reportedly denied it.

The songstress is currently reported to be dating Taiwanese actor Kai Ko (Ko Chen Tung), who is 12 years her junior.

The pair, under close watch by the media, is said to have recently enjoyed a vacation together in Bali.

Ko refused to comment when asked if he has seen the video.

But when asked by reporters about his trip to Bali, he responded that the scenic location was "very beautiful", indirectly admitting that he had indeed been there.
