Photo editing: Self-conscious or deluded?

 

LOCAL blogger Stella Yeo got slammed for her heavily edited photographs. Earlier this year, China blogger Wang Jiayun also got served her share of flak when her heavily edited photos - which made her look a lot like an actual porcelain doll - got circulated online.

Other local bloggers who have been criticised by netizens for posting heavily edited photos of themselves include Qiu Ting (known online as QiuQiu), Wendy Cheng (known online as Xiaxue) and Dawn Yang.

All their defences are one and the same - there is nothing wrong in wanting to make their photos look good.

Two psychologists that The New Paper spoke to said that bloggers who post doctored, picture-perfect photos of themselves do it because they find the need to seek attention, have low self-esteem, or even live in a fantasy world.

Why? Because it's cheaper and easier than make-up! Seriously, these ladies have self-esteem issues.. and insufficient Photoshop skills :)

It's just scary ! What's going through these young ladies' mind ? The photo editing/makeover isn't natural at all. More for fantasy movies.
